Tenure-track Faculty Position in Observational Massive Star and Compact Object Binary Science

Do you work in the field of observational massive star and compact object binary science? Are you interested in contributing to a diverse and collaborative research and teaching community? Join us The Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy API of the University of Amsterdam UvA is seeking to hire an assistant professor in high energy astrophysics. We especially welcome applications from experts in multi wavelength and time domain observational astronomy that connects to new and future facilities such as SKA, CTA, NewAthena, and ELT. The candidate will lead a research program focused on the roles of binary star systems with massive stars, stellar mass black holes and neutron stars, as laboratories for binary evolution, extreme gravity, accretion, particle acceleration and feedback. This is what you will do • Conducting independent research in high energy astrophysics, resulting in academic publications in peer reviewed international journals; • Building and leading a research group, in the spirit of team science; • Actively pursuing external funding; • Actively contributing to the development of national and international research networks; • Actively contributing to the governance
